Reykjavik's interactive teaching platform for oral surgery
In the majestic Icelandic scenery of Reykjavik oral surgeon Gudmundur A. Bjornsson's clinic is growing to be an innovative hub for oral surgery for the Nordic countries. The clinic is already ahead of its time, regarding its medical practice. Specialising in trauma implants, oral maxillofacial and ortognat surgeries, these procedures are not likely to be seen outside of hospitals.
Originally from Iceland, Mr. Bjornsson lives and runs his own clinic GAB in Reykjavik, Iceland. His work and lecturing skills are renowned far beyond Europe's borders. As well as being a lecturer at conferences around the world, he is lecturing Norwegian students at the dentistry faculty in Oslo.
Integrating the clinic's surgical lights with OpenOR and a HD camera, he is introducing his students to a new and modern teaching method that is highly interactive.
Video recording surgeries with live footage and images will help oral surgeons and students get a first-hand view and better understanding of surgical techniques and procedures.
"The image quality exceeded my expectations. Video resolution is excellent, better and more detailed than human eyes," says Gudmundur A. Bjornsson, Oral surgeon.
