Extensive experience in hospital furniture manufacture

Founded in 1901, Merivaara has got vast experience in designing and manufacturing hospital furniture. The first operating table by Merivaara was created in 1910.

Merivaara was part of Instrumentarium, a Finnish medical device company taken over by GE Healthcare in 2002, for several decades. Today, Merivaara is a privately held company based in Lahti, Finland. Merivaara also has subsidiaries in Sweden (Merivaara AB) and Norway (Merivaara AS), and a representative office in Russia. The company employs approx 110 people.

International sales account for more than 85 per cent of net sales. Northern Europe and Russia are currently Merivaara's main market areas. Products are however distributed worldwide to more than 100 countries.

Safety, reliability and modularity are cornerstones of Merivaara's product design. Ergonomics pays an essential part, as well as ease-of-use. Merivaara aims at making operational patient flow and day surgery procedures as convenient and cost-efficient as possible. 

The product range includes trolleys and stretchers, examination and operating tables, beds for ICU, delivery and patient rooms, bedside cabinets, and medical lights.

The company's quality (ISO 9001 and ISO 13485) and environmental (ISO 14001) management systems have been certified by Det Norske Veritas (DNV).
