Merivaara introduces novelties for the operating theatre and maternity unit at Medica 2011

With 110 years experience in making beds and other hospital furniture, Finnish company Merivaara is ready to introduce its novelties at Medica 2011, the worlds' largest health technology show. Merivaara displays its solutions for operating room, maternity unit and patient ward, and offers daily demos on different operating table setups in Hall 14, at stand E05.

The new Optima delivery bed for better comfort in the maternity unit

The new Optima delivery bed has been designed in cooperation with midwives. Particular focus has been on ergonomics, safety and mobility to help create a better environment for mother, newborn and the nursing staff.

Being fully modular, the Optima delivery bed is suitable for all stages of labour and can adapt to individual customer needs. Offering a wide range of positions in the same unit, Optima enhances comfort and minimises the risk of awkward postures and strain. The bed and its accessories are easy to clean.

For enhanced safety, the bed includes electrically-powered Trendelenburg positions and separate quick-release both for Trendelenburg and back section.

Practico, the mobile, electricity-powered operating table designed and manufactured by Merivaara, has been updated with a new kidney bridge back section. Integrated with the back section, the new kidney bridge allows for better patient positioning for kidney and thorax procedures.

Practico is especially suitable for general and day surgery, e.g. EYE/ENT, shoulder and gynaecology/urology surgery.
